Two entrepreneurial young mums, Reg and Barbara started Funky Elephant because they wanted to create something that would help their children, by not only keeping them entertained, but also by helping them learn and develop new skills. Their great Aussie business, Funky Elephant was born to provide kids with monthly boxes of exciting activities to keep them busy and for having fun!
Funky Elephant provide ‘trunks full of fun’ that are filled with activities that encourage kids to explore, create and learn through projects and role play. They offer a 2, 6 and 12 month subscription so your child receives a box filled with great ideas every month to keep them busy and let them learn in a fun way. They will also just love to receive their own special mail every month too.
Aussie Product Review was provided with a wonderful box of goodies that our eager reviewer couldn’t get his hands on quick enough!
The box contained an assortment of projects including ‘making a dinosaur tail’, ‘making a model dinosaur’ with paints and a fossil making activity (with clay, wooden sticks and plastic dinosaurs) that amused him for hours.
The first project to be tackled was the ‘dinosaur tail’. All the materials are ready to assemble so your child can get to work immediately without cutting or any fuss. Our reviewer had to stick little stickers to the back of the precut dots and them stick them onto the tail. When he was done some elastic was threaded through the precut holes and there it was, a dinosaur tail that he absolutely loved! He wore it for hours and ran around being a roaring dinosaur – he was very proud that he had created something himself and it showed. The dinosaur tail was used again and again throughout the month. It was his new favourite toy.
The second activity was to paint and then assemble a model dinosaur. This was a little challenging for our 3 year old reviewer but it didn’t stop him trying and that’s really what it’s all about, isn’t it? He painted the precut dinosaur and then I did have to assemble it for him. This was something he watched with wonder and when it was assembled quickly played with it, using his imagination to attack everything in sight.
The third activity was a fossil making kit (with clay, wooden sticks and plastic dinosaurs). These were all great little activities that were good for the rainy days we had to endure over the last month.
I can say that the thought of receiving a box full of activities every month from Funky Elephant would be terrific! Some days you just need that extra help with ideas and the good thing about the funky trunks are that they are all thought out for you, by that I mean age appropriate, safe and of course fun!
