TIP: If you’re using commercial dishwashing powder then when you’ve used half from the container top it back up with bicarbonate of soda. The results will impress you and hopefully then you’ll want to make your own using the recipe below to save even more money!
If you use dishwasher tablets then halve them and you wont notice any difference to your clean.
Dishwasher Detergent Recipe
- 2 cups borax
- 2 cups washing soda
- 1 cup citric acid
- 1 cup course sea salt (Table salt is too fine for this recipe)
Use 1 Tbsp per load (that’s really all you’ll need to use).
This amount yields about 1.5 litres of detergent. Store in an airtight container under the sink.
This should give you around 100 tablespoons of detergent! So cheap and easy 🙂
For a natural rinse agent, simply fill the compartment with white vinegar.
