5 SEO Tips

  • Your Title Tag <title>Search engine optimisation</title> should have between 5 and 12 words (This is generally weighted more than any other text on the site)
  • Your Meta Description Tag <meta name=”description”content=”de scription”/> should have between 5 and 20 words
  • Your Meta Keyword Tags <meta name=”keywords”content=”key, words”/> should have no more than 50 words (This is generally weighted less than the content on the page)
  • The meta keywords tags should have the words contained in the title, description and the content of the page
  • Try to use heading tags when possible

Building Inbound Links

One-way inbound links are the best links you can accumulate for the best SEO results. The quality of these websites that are linking back to you is of the utmost importance. Having many websites of low quality linking back to you will do little for your SEO ranking but get the links from high ranking, good quality and relevant websites and your own ranking will increase. Sites that rank highly include those such as the best directories like DMOZ.org, the top blogger directories, sites that have a high Google Page Rank and other distinguished sites with a good reputation. A tip is to search Google and see what sites they are ranking highly, then use Google Page Rank to get the actual ranking position.
Create a website that others will want to link back to. Great quality content will ensure this. Reciprocal links are useful but again only use websites of high quality.
